Beginners Courses

Archery is a fantastic sport for people of all ages and Woking Archery Club offers a number of training courses through out the year.  Why training courses?  Archery is one of the safest sports but there is always the risk of injury either from incorrect technique, equipment failure or misuse.  It is very important to learn about the equipment you use, how to shoot with other archers and the correct technique – as well as an introduction to a number of different bow types from the traditional longbow to the compound.

Woking Archery Club runs pre-booked courses on selected dates from March until September. Run over three consecutive Saturdays, the sessions start at 9.30am (9am prompt arrival please for admin and setting up) and are two hours in duration; it is important that you are available to attend all three sessions as our volunteer coaches may not be able to offer alternative dates.

Due to participant to coach ratios our standard courses are unsuitable for children under the age of 8 and we restrict attendance to two under 12s on any one course. Exceptions can sometimes be made for families and friendship groups and we will do our best to accommodate enquiries from parents/guardians of younger children keen to try archery. Parents should be aware that, due to the nature of the sport and the obvious potential safety hazards, some young children will not necessarily have the appropriate skills and attention span to benefit fully from the sport and we must be mindful of our other archers in considering their inclusion.

Please note, a parent/guardian must be present at all times for the duration of the course when an under 18 is participating.

Please note, as our membership is approaching capacity, you may be put on a waiting list to join the club even if you have successfully completed the course.

The cost of these courses is £60.00.
