Woking Archery Club is situated just outside the village of Wisley close to the Royal Horticultural Gardens. The Club membership is close to 150 and this makes it one of the largest target shooting clubs in the County. We combine both serious competitive archery (we have archers representing Great Britain at senior level as well as juniors in Archery GB Development squads) with recreational archery for people who want to enjoy shooting in a relaxed environment.
Woking Archery Club as been recognised by Archery GB as an ‘On Target’ club. This is Archery GB’s way to recognise the commitment and vital role that clubs play in growing the sport. A strong and healthy network of clubs is essential if archery is to grow and flourish.
The club runs pre-booked beginners courses for those wishing to take up the sport and also welcomes visiting experienced archers. Age is no limit – we have archers from 7 to 80 and all bow types are shot. The Club hosts a number of competitions, a bi-annual County of Surrey Longbow shoot and Inter County friendly shoots as well as the Woking Open which is our own organised competition for any archer.
We are lucky in having our own field that gives seven days a week shooting (there are odd days when the field is closed) and having semi-permanent foam bosses. All distances are catered for and the field is marked with both metric and imperial lines.
Membership is open to all – if you are new to archery the club offers pre-booked beginners courses and it is a requirement that you complete a course before becoming a member. Courses give a good grounding in all aspects of archery giving you plenty of opportunity to shoot while learning about safety and different types of bow.
